What do dozens of Mary Poppins, a reenactment of the Industrial Revolution and James Bond and the Queen of England have in common?
The 2012 Summer Olympic Games of course!
And with Friday night’s opening ceremonies, music also took its rightful stage. Acts like Queen, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and of course The Beatles were featured in montages and formed the soundtrack for a large portion of the ceremonies. Oh, and the Queen of England jumped out of a plane with James Bond…
Current acts featured Paul McCartney and an appearance by The Arctic Monkeys, who covered The Beatles’ “Come Together” in front of the world audience (you can listen to it below). McCartney played “Hey Jude” to the elation of the thousands of ceremony attendees. Many of the performances and music will be featured on iTunes within a day.
All in all, it was an interesting show that made you realize just how crazy the United Kingdom really is…
God Save the Queen!
