Heavy Metal crashes against the Shoreline
Trivium rocked the parking lot stage harder than I’ve seen any other band before them in past Mayhem fests and other fests at the Shoreline. But Megadeth’s thrash licks were hot and on the spot. Its been too long since I’ve seen them, and even though they didn’t play Ashes in Your Mouth it was just a bummer they weren’t headlining. Godsmack and Disturbed’s guitar solos were just weak sauce to the ears after Mustaine’s creations.

But on the serious note, I’ve never thrown up cause of music until Godsmack, after barely tolerating the joke flamboyant drumming techniques and Metallica riff and vocal rip-offs I ended up throwing up.
Disturbed threw a great show, really tried connecting with the remaining crowd, that started disappearing a couple songs into their set. It became pretty evident that most of the crowd was there for Godsmack, but Disturbed played a good selection of their discography. And their stage production was quality, they had videos or other pyros going off with the songs. Wasn’t looping or redundant and in an age of bad show gimmicks, I have to give credit where credit is due. Sickness wasn’t a bad deal, probably would’ve been a good idea to catch them back in the day, but he did do the whole mother son part which I was impressed since I thought he would’ve been tired of squeezing that out but ya like the rest of their production, didn’t seem like they were skimping out on things.

Well this years Mayhem went down in quality bigtime compared to last years but better than 3 yrs ago. It was weird seeing Nazi’s salute each other out in broad daylight in Mountain View but it seemed like it was happening all day. Obviously I’m not familiar with which band brought out that crowd but I imagine it was one of the early bands but seems pretty pathetic but a good and fair assessment of the crumbling metal scene today. Another factor in the Siren Count is how the Shoreline security acts differently which each and every crowd at the Shoreline. How can they expect consistency when they let anyone and everyone to do what they want a Further show and then even trying to limit the times you go out of your section and try to mark down your seat and not allowing you to return?
