The amount of hype surrounding the lineup at Southern California’s most highly-touted music festival, Coachella, only seems to grow each year. After 2012′s festival ended, coming off the first ever double-weekend event, the 2013 campaign began; mere weeks post Tupac hologram, and profuse heat exhaustion, the dates and first round of presale tickets were announced. Then, they were sold out. Just like that, in less than 5 hours. Someone is doing something right.
Stop it, why would the hype machine rest at that? When word got out that The Rolling Stones would most likely make their way to the Desert for some rowdy fun, needless to say, the buzz grew.
Well, last night the lineup was officially announced. Oh, and the Stones will be playing, The Stone Roses that is. Although, some have noted that the headliners are somewhat weak compared to previous years, I feel the strength here is in the small print. Immediate standouts are Dinosaur Jr, Cloud Nothings, Wu-Tang, New Order, Modest Mouse, FOALS, Gaslight Anthem, Japandroids, Jurassic 5, Beach House, Wild Nothing, How to Destroy Angels, Local Natives, Yeasayer, and of course, Grizzly Bear. Not to mention Rodriguez (From the Oscar caliber documentary Searching for Sugarman), Kurt Vile, and SA favorites Lord Huron. That’s just to name a few. Take a look at the lineup below and leave your thoughts in the comments. Curious to see what the number one hype-mongerer, World Wide Web thinks.
More tickets go on sale Tuesday, January 29th at 10am PT. Expect a fully jammed Coachella.com come that morning. The kids will never learn.
If you manage to pick up tickets, come out and find me! I’ll be one of the few NOT wearing the same Navajo print tank top from Urban Outfitters. I should be fairly easy to locate.

I think it’s an impressive lineup. for the last couple of years there arent many acts that i actually want to see at a festivals. this definitely looks stacked.
looking forward to hearing about your adventure this year.
When I saw the lineup, I thought it was a joke. This is boring to me. They definitely recycled a lot of acts from 2010, Coachella’s last awesome year T__T
Interesting. What other bands do you wish were booked? I was hoping to see some Deftones love. Maybe a few harder acts this year. Overall though, I’m liking what I see, I missed 2010. Wu-tang and New Order make it all alright in my mind
