Bon Iver disses Grammy’s, plays SNL, and announces tour

It’s been a big year for Justin Vernon and company on the Bon Iver front.

The band released its terrific self-titled sophomore release, played sold out shows all over the world, is currently nominated for four Grammy’s including record of the year and song of the year, and has secured a spot in the Coachella lineup. Most recently Bon Iver headlined the Saturday Night Live stage this past weekend, playing “Halocene” and “Beth/Rest” from the aforementioned Bon Iver album. Both clips can be seen below:

“Halocene”

In other Bon Iver news, the band was scheduled to perform at the Grammy Awards Show this coming Sunday, however, as an interview with Billboard reports, Justin Vernon declined because the band reportedly “had to do a collaboration with someone else.” Vernon continued by stating: “We kind of said ‘fuck you’ a little bit and they sort of acted like they wanted us to play, but I don’t think they wanted us to play.”

The guys certainly deserve to play their own music on the big stage at the Grammy’s, no false modesty there. As Vernon previously stated about his work with Kanye West during the Dark Fantasy sessions to Spin Magazine: “Kanye hates the word ‘humble.’ And after I spent time with him, I don’t use that word anymore. He got really angry with me and asked me, ‘Have you ever looked at the definition of that word? It’s borderline self-loathing.’ It really made me think. I don’t want to be humble. I want to have humility…”
